Day for Kids
Saturday, September 26 could not have been a more beautiful day to celebrate our wonderful children. The Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon observed the third Annual Day for Kids which celebrates our children and their hopes, dreams, and aspirations! It is a day to celebrate all of the positive things happening in our community!
Mel Campos, Chief Professional Officer stated, “Children and families had the opportunity to spend a wholesome day together celebrating the good our children do that is sometimes taken for granted.” Families also had the opportunity to learn all the great things happening at the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon!
More than 200 children and their families enjoyed a fun filled Block Party/Fair that highlighted the three major objectives of the Club.
The day was filled with a variety of different and fun activities such as face painting, clowns, two bouncy houses, tennis and basketball demonstrations, and an obstacle course. Jessica Richardson led a Zumba class that got everyone’s legs and arms moving. Shoprite provided Healthy Snacks, and Dr. Bob Della‘More performed a healthy cooking demonstration with samples to promote healthy Lifestyles.
Our many Collaborators attended and provided valuable information for our attendees. DJ Cranberry provided a wide variety of music that had something for everyone from uplifting Gospel to Hip Hop. The Revelators Dance Group and the Alpha Stars Cheerleading Team entertained the crowd and offered spirited performances. More than 20 volunteers assured the event was safe and fun for all.
