After being derailed by COVID in 2021, the teen members of the Dream Chasers Keystone Club are back on track and excited to work with Save the Sound on their second collaborative effort. As stakeholders in the well-being of their community, the Dream Chasers will continue to monitor the current health of the Hutchinson River. As believers in environmental justice, they will identify possible interventions to eliminate sources of pollution and ways to bolster the ecosystem of the waterway.
Three informational and training sessions, including a visit to Save the Sound’s laboratory and two field trips, have been planned. On the field trips, the teen members will place water pollution monitoring equipment at strategic spots on the Mount Vernon section of the Hutchinson River as directed by the Save the Sound team.
Keystone members will monitor the data loggers bi-weekly throughout the summer months. The project will culminate with a celebratory picnic at Orchard Beach!
