Today was a hectic, but very good day for BGCMV.
Throughout the day, over 175 people came through our doors for our community food & clothes distribution. The clothes are courtesy of our champions Irene and Richard Gossett! The food courtesy of Feeding Westchester!
Today was also our annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner. We thank Rob Kestenbaum, Ivy Torres and the team from YORK International for sponsoring this event for the past ten years! We welcome Ed Shaw and his wife who came to assist and who will be taking on partial sponsorship of the event next year. We gave out and delivered 150 boxes to seniors, veterans, the disabled, and the homebound.
We thank and appreciate BGCMV Board Members Rhonda Fountain and Joe Solimine, staff members Edwin Lopez, Sharon Young, Danny Burgos, Halima Penny, Karen Cole, Mel Campos, and teen members Melanie Williams, Bria Bailey, Kelsha Rodriguez, Javonne Johnson, Radar James and Christian Burgos for their contribution to a very successful day.
It was a total team effort where everyone pitched in to make what could have been a very challenging day into a very rewarding day! Donna Marie McKenzie managed the day flawlessly beginning at 8am this morning and wrapping it up at 8:35 pm this evening. Our staff, volunteers, teens and our BGCMV Community came together to do good things for all of our citizens from young children to very senior seniors. Days like today make all of our efforts worthwhile. As our holiday season kicks off today for BGCMV we have a lot to be thankful for. On that list is our committed hard working staff and our outstanding Board of Directors. Thank you all for making BGCMV the special place it is!
